Most of the migratory, colorful, popular birds have migrated to cooler places. Or at least they've moved up into the mountains and away from our home, which is in the city. There are plenty of tree sparrows around, though.
The tree sparrow is a not-too-appreciated birdy, and maybe that's why I like 'em. Their colors are not too bright, nor very cheerful. They can be noisy and their manners wanting. Yet God has even them in His thoughts.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. --Jesus (from Matthew's gospel)
Here are a few that have visited us recently.
In His Grip (and His thoughts),
Kevin

That's so lovely Kevin. I don't mind the little sparrows either.
Reminds me of this lovely hymn:
God Sees the Little Sparrow Fall
God sees the little sparrow fall,
It meets His tender view;
If God so loves the little birds,
I know He loves me, too.
Refrain
He loves me, too, He loves me, too,
I know He loves me, too;
Because He loves the little things,
I know He loves me, too.
He paints the lily of the field,
Perfumes each lily bell;
If He so loves the little flow’rs,
I know He loves me well.
Refrain
God made the little birds and flow’rs,
And all things large and small;
He’ll not forget his little ones,
I know He loves them all.
Refrain
Listen
Pat, thanks for posting the hymn!
Beautiful photos...the sparrow asks for so little in life yet gives so much pleasure in our garden
What charming photos. I love sparrows too and you've really caught their personalities!
Oh they're so cute!
